In order to increase everyone’s understanding of colored gemstones, I briefly talked about rubies, sapphires, and selection criteria.
① The unit of weight is carat, abbreviated as “carat”, with the symbol ct.
1 carat = 0.2 grams, 1 carat = 100 points, 1 point = 2 milligrams

Ruby and sapphires are divided into natural and heated types
Natural ones are more expensive and have better value retention!
Heating, an internationally recognized treatment method: through heating treatment, the color and clarity of the gemstone are in the best state. All gemstones should be based on quality, don’t “talk about heating”!
③Emeralds cannot be burned, look at the oil content.
It is divided into oil-free, slightly oily, and colored oil. Among them, emeralds produced in Colombia and Zambia are more famous.
④The selection standard can be “1T4C”
“1T” refers to “transparency”
“4C” refers to color, clarity, cut, and carat.
The higher the transparency, the better; the richer the color, the better; the cleaner the crystal, the better; the cut depends on whether it is neat and coordinated.
⑤ Defects
Natural gemstones inevitably have defects, the common types are: cracks, inclusions, black spots, pits, gaps, bottom leaks, etc.
Among them, bottom leaks, or “windows”, are minor and fine. Don’t pass on gemstones immediately when you hear this word. There are not so many perfectly cut natural precious gemstones!
